  1. How do I travel between McGuire AFB and civilization and Philadelphia Airport? (Current as of: January 2015)
    1. In addition to the shuttle(s) mentioned under "Ground Transportation" New Jersey Transit Bus Route #317 services McGuire and you can take it to Philadelphia. From the terminal proceed on McGuire Boulevard (directly in front of you) to the main gate. When you exit the main gate make a right turn (head east) on Wrightstown-Cookstown Road and walk to the bus stop just past the signal light at S Bolling Blvd/East Arnold Blvd. The west-bound bus stop is directly under the 7-11 convenience store sign that can be seen from the traffic light. The distance from the Pax Terminal is about 1.5 miles (approx 20-30 minute walk).
    2. The senior fare from Cookstown (the bus stop) to the Greyhound station in Philadelphia (near Reading Station) was $3.75 on August 9th, 2009. Looking at the Google maps for the various stops I would say the transit time between McGuire and Dix stops would be about 6-7 minutes. It is a 2 hour ride to Philly and don’t forget to request a military discount with your ID card!
    3. If you'd like to continue to Philadelphia Airport then grab the SEPTA's Airport Line from Philadelphia's "Market East/The Gallery" station (near the Philadelphia bus station).
  2. How do I travel between McGuire AFB and New York City? (Current as of: January 2015)
    1. Take the New Jersey Transit Bus #317 as listed above to Lakewood. Then catch the Route #139 to the NYC Port Authority.

  1. Try UBER Versus a Taxi:  Taxis at McGuire seem to be expensive.  A passenger recently (August 2015) paid $67 for a taxi from Trenton Transit Station and McGuire. On the return they tried Uber and the cost was $30.  The Uber driver had to get a pass to get to lodging, and the passenger had to verify him via telephone with the Main Gate Pass and ID center.
  2. New Jersey Transit Discounts:  one of the best kept "open secrets" is the official military discount available to military and retirees: it's the same fare as the rate for "disabled AND senior citizens".  All military personnel and their dependents can purchase transportation at the senior citizen reduced fare rate upon showing their military or military dependent ID card. The following military personnel are entitled to this fare: Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard or Retired for Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard. Eligible passengers may ride at reduced fare rates on any NJ TRANSIT bus, rail or light rail service at all times, without restriction, upon presentation of authorized identification. http://www.njtransit.com/ti/ti_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=BusTicketsTo
